What a dynamic evening it was in the heart of Tokyo, as the HKU Business School Japan Alumni Network and the HKU Alumni Network of Japan came together this weekend for a joint anniversary dinner celebration!  Inaugurated last October, the HKU Business School Japan Alumni Network is home to approximately a hundred prominent business leaders.  Led by a volunteer Executive Committee helmed by President Noriko Liu, the occasion also witnessed a certificate presentation for a new co-VP role awarded to Keita Kanda, who was instrumental in the organization of last night’s event. Special thanks as well to Aya Higashio, Hiromasa Oda, Mari Kuchinishi, Kogaku Tanaka, and Yuta Shirahata!

Meanwhile, the HKU Alumni Network of Japan celebrated its 21st anniversary and we had the pleasure to hear from both their founding and current Presidents.  HKU’s Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Professor Wang Yang, also very kindly recorded video remarks.  The highlight of the night was the distinguished guest lecture by HKU Honorary Professor of Japanese Studies, Professor Yoshiko Nakano. Professor Nakano, who previously taught at HKU for 22 years, delivered a truly fascinating presentation on the history of Japanese business advertisements in colonial Hong Kong, walking us through over a century of prosperous ties in commerce and trade.

Altogether, this memorable occasion reunited over 70 alumni and special guests over dinner, drinks, and delightful networking.   Thank you to everyone who joined and made this gathering so special!
