We are delighted to announce that our students have won the Champion and 1st Runner-up titles at the Venture Insight Business Simulation Challenge 2026, organised by the International Association of Business Management Simulation (IABMS).

The competition challenged participating teams to develop innovative solutions for Farmacy Group (Farmacy HK), a Hong Kong AgriTech company specialising in sustainable urban farming. The competition consisted of two rounds: teams were invited to submit business proposals in the first round, and shortlisted teams advanced to deliver live presentations and execute their strategies in an AI-powered business simulation.

Our students’ strong performance demonstrated their strategic thinking, teamwork, and ability to apply classroom knowledge to real-world business scenarios.

Congratulations to the winning teams on this well-deserved success!

Champion

“This competition was a true pressure test. It pushed us to move past abstract concepts and think critically about how a green-tech business can scale realistically in today’s retail and corporate landscape. We focused on balancing profitability with sustainability, and ensuring our financial and operational models could withstand real-world execution.”

“This competition pushed our creativity and innovation skills to come up with different realistic solutions to Farmacy that wants to scale up. This is my first time joining a case competition. So, to immerse myself fully in a business case and to think critically for the business has been a really special experience. We’ve also received comments from the CEO which not only did I learn a lot from managing a business, but it also changed my view towards start-ups and the importance of ESG and making an impact with technology.”
(by Mr. Chiang Yat Hay, Hayden)

“It was a defining experience in applying business theory to fast-paced execution. Tasked with addressing scaling challenges for Farmacy HK, my team balanced market expansion with sustainable AgriTech operations. Participating in this competition has strengthened my ability to leverage AI-driven insights for quick, strategic decisions, culminating in a live pitch that enhanced my strategic thinking, teamwork, and resilience.”
(by Mr. Lam Chun Wah, Matthew)

“As the teammate handling Pricing Strategy and Margin Management, this competition was a masterclass in financial defence and agility. My core focus was architecting an asset-light FaaS (Farming-as-a-Service) model to guarantee clients a 10% profit margin while fiercely protecting Farmacy’s baseline 50% gross margin. It taught me that building a sustainable green-tech business requires more than just an innovative product; it demands mathematically sound financial projections and the operational discipline to execute under pressure.”

1st Runner-up

“Visiting Farmacy’s growing facilities was a fascinating experience. Seeing their smart farms in operation brought the case study to life.

The judges’ feedback on competition day was equally valuable. Their pointed questions challenged our assumptions, pushed us to defend our numbers, and reminded us that great strategy requires rigorous execution — not just clever ideas. We are proud of our first runner-up finish and grateful for the opportunity to learn from both the site visit and the judges’ insights.”

“Until the start of competition, agriculture technology was still a very new and unfamiliar concept to me. Exploring concepts of agriculture technology and Farmacy’s business has further extended my world vision, making me more aware of the social and technological trends. Furthermore, throughout the competition, I also gained more insights in business simulation and decision making, and I believe this experience will further strengthen both skills of analytical thinking and also a calmer and more logical mindset when making decisions in the future.

I am very grateful to have such supportive teammates with me throughout the whole competition. Throughout these 3 months, we cooperated as one team. Though we faced difficulties to make ourselves familiar with the topic, we soon pulled through it.”

“This being my first business case competition, I did not really know what to expect. I was lucky to work with teammates who had participated in case competitions before and were willing to put in the effort, which made the experience much more enjoyable and meaningful.

Although I was already quite familiar with the first part of the competition, which involved analysing a business and developing recommendations, the business simulation was completely new to me. My team and I had to spend a lot of time understanding how the simulation worked and how different decisions would impact the business. On the day of the competition, we initially ranked last in the simulation, but we kept learning from our results and adjusting our strategies. As we gained a better understanding of the simulation, we were able to make more informed decisions and improve our performance.

I found the simulation especially valuable. While I was already aware that market changes, business data, and different decisions are interconnected, the simulation provided a unique opportunity to see how different factors realistically interact with each other. I found this very insightful and would be eager to practice with similar simulations in the future, as they provide a valuable way to develop better business judgment.“
