Cautionary tales in air-quality assessment

ABSTRACT
We will recount our air-quality assessment research since 2014 — how it began, how it evolved, and how it shaped our understanding of statistical research bridging theory and practice. Effective air-quality management demands statistical measures free from meteorological confounding. We develop meteorologically adjusted approaches that quantify unobservable emission effects and deliver actionable insights for air-quality management in China.
