HKU Business School ranks Asia’s No. 1 for the second consecutive year and World’s No. 18 in UTD Research Rankings

(8 February, 2023, Hong Kong) HKU Business School is pleased to announce that it tops the rank of UTD Research Rankings in Asia successively in 2022, and ranks No. 18 in the world, subsequent to its remarkable achievement in 2021. The ranking is based on the number of academic articles published in 24 top business academic journals (UTD 24 journals) and the contribution of authors by each university in the year 2022.

The School of Management of the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), United States, has been compiling business school rankings since 2005 by tracking academic articles published. The UTD24 journals are highly recognised among academic institutions worldwide, covering major areas of business research, such as management science, accounting, finance, marketing, information systems, strategic management, organisational science and international business. It is an international research benchmark of business schools around the globe.

Professor Hongbin Cai, Dean of HKU Business School, said, ‘This ranking performance is a recognition of our persistence in striving for excellence in academic research. We outperformed ourselves by contributing an additional of 16 articles compared to the year 2021. HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition 2025: Advancing Business Innovation and Leadership
On June 6 2025, the final round of the HSBC/HKU Asia Pacific Business Case Competition 2025 was held, reaffirming its position as the world’s largest and best business case competition globally. Organised by HKU Business School’s Asia Case Research Centre (ACRC), together with HSBC, the competition concluded at HSBC’s main building in Hong Kong. Throughout the competition week, 24 teams from 20 nations did their best to come out ahead.
