We are happy to bring you another Guest Talk in the evening of April 15 (Sun). The speaker is Professor Geng Xiao (肖耿教授), Professor of Practice in Finance and Public Policy in Faculty of Business and Economics and Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Hong Kong. Professor Xiao’s research covers a wide range of topics of Chinese Economy, with focuses on macroeconomics, exchange rate, finance, SOE reforms and etc.

| Abstract: | 经过40年的改革与开放，中国的现代化过程进入了一个关键的转折点。在国内，过去以土地为本及地方自主的增长模式面临许多不可持续的问题：包括腐败、环境污染、过度借贷、不平等、及缺乏创新动力等。在国际上，许多发达国家不再将中国看作是一个与其互补的发展中经济体，而是将中国看作一个未来世界最重要的竞争对手。层出不穷的颠覆性技术革命对中国及所有经济体也提出了崭新的挑战。全球化会持续还是逆转？改革与开放能够深入还是面临威胁？如何总结中国过去40年的发展经验？如何应对未来的挑战与机会？如何将中国的发展模式转向以人为本、以现代治理为手段、以维护与改善人类命运共同体为目标的新时代发展模式？这个宏大的结构转型与制度变革会如何影响中国的供应链、房地产、金融、及外汇市场？这些问题已经不是理论问题，而是每一个家庭、企业、及政府必须面对的难题。本次讲座将探讨这些难题及其相关的分析框架。 |
