Biography

Before joining the University of Hong Kong, Professor Chan was Philip L. Siteman Professor of Marketing at Olin Business School. He received his Ph.D. in Economics at Yale University in 2001, joining the faculty at Washington University in St. Louis shortly thereafter.

Professor Chan currently serves as a senior editor at Marketing Science, a top journal in marketing. His research interests include healthcare, industrial organization, applied microeconomics, and marketing. Conducting various research projects in the domain of economics and marketing, he studies various types of consumer and firm behaviors, offline and online, using advanced empirical methods. His research has been published in top economics and marketing journals such as Journal of Political Economy, Review of Economic Studies, RAND Journal of Economics, Management Science, Marketing Science, Information Systems Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and Journal of Marketing Research, among many others.
