Profile

Professor Chan Heng Chee chairs the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities in the Singapore University of Technology and Design.  She is Ambassador-at-Large with the Singapore Foreign Ministry.  She is also a Member of the Presidential Council of Minority Rights, Chairman of the National Arts Council, Deputy Chairman of the Social Science Research Council, a Member of the Science of Cities Committee, National Research Foundation and a Member of the Advisory Council on the Ethical use of Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) and Data.  She is a Trustee of the National University of Singapore and Member of the Yale-NUS Governing Board.  She serves as a Member of the Executive Board of the China Cultural Centre.

She was elected Global Co-Chair of the Asia Society in November 2017.

Ambassador Chan served as Singapore’s Ambassador to the United States from July 1996 to 14 July 2012.  She was Singapore’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 1989 to 1991 and was concurrently High Commissioner to Canada and Ambassador to Mexico.
