Future Leader Scholarship Programme 2025 | Student Sharing: Ma Wing Heng, Kenneth
Can the intersection of business acumen and artistic expression serve as a catalyst for social revitalisation?
Meet Ma Wing Heng, Kenneth, an HKU Business School student majoring in Entrepreneurship, Design and Innovation and a recipient of the Future Leader Scholarship 2024–2025. As an award-winning choral conductor, Kenneth demonstrates the strategic duality required to bridge the gap between creative vision and social mission. He has launched a social enterprise that supports dementia patients through tailor-made music programmes—addressing a critical societal challenge through market-driven innovation and community-centric interventions.
The Scholarship acted as a vital milestone, facilitating Kenneth’s participation in the 2nd International Choral Conducting Competition in Greece. Honoured as the youngest of the 13 conductors selected globally, he received the ‘Most Promising Conductor Award’. This international exchange provided a platform for Kenneth to share Hong Kong’s music scene while refining the technical leadership skills necessary to drive productivity growth in the social sector.
Beyond academic metrics, the Scholarship has empowered Kenneth to lean into his passion for social entrepreneurship. By leveraging his musical expertise to reach the less fortunate, he is contributing to a more diversified and resilient society—one where leadership is defined by empathy and institutional accountability.
