FBE students garner the most awards in ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition 2019

Themed ‘Professional and Social Conscious Leaders for our Shared Future’, the ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition 2019 was concluded on 26 January 2019. This year, our students not only garnered the most awards, but also swept top prizes and two Best Presenter Awards after rounds of competition.

In the final round of competition, student teams were required to present their business proposals of the chosen social enterprise to the panel of judges comprising finance leaders and social enterprise experts, on how to optimise the operations of the social enterprise on areas of catering, retail & direct sales, ecotourism or promotion of well-being.

The Faculty and its teams have won a total of 9 out of 13 awards in the competition. With students’ keen participation, FBE was named the Top Participating University again this year. While four teams of FBE students were awarded the 1st Runner-up, 2nd Runner-up, Merit, Best Presenter, Best Proposal, Best Budgeting, Digital Excellence, Team Excellence and the newly introduced prize ‘Future Leaders in the Eyes of Employers’.

Aiming at nurturing students with a blend of accounting and business knowledge alongside values of social responsibility, ACCA launched this annual competition since 2007. Students benefit from a board range of skills training workshops and coaching from the ACCA fellow members, to enhance their analytical, proposal writing and presentation skills.

Students feedback:

Eric KO Yiu Wa, one of the the Best Presenter Award winners, said, ‘This competition provides a great platform to work with a team and to learn how to present our ideas and thoughts effectively. I learned a lot from this experience and I am eager to take part in other future case competitions.’

The team which won the prizes of 1st Runner-up, Best Proposal and Team Excellence Award, reflected on their expereince, ‘In preparing the final presentation, we worked hard to refine our strategies on proposal writing and pitching our ideas.
