The HKU Business School recently hosted an engaging alumni luncheon themed “Connecting Hong Kong: Bridging Global Logistics,” featuring two distinguished speakers: Mr. Andy Tung (Managing Partner of QBN Capital, Former CEO of Orient Overseas Container Lines), Prof. Philip Chen (Professor of Practice in Management and Strategy of HKU Business School, Independent Non-Executive Director of Hang Lung Properties, Former Chief Executive of Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd). The session was moderated by Dean Prof. Hongbin Cai. This event was particularly significant as it coincided with the 25th anniversary of the esteemed IMBA program. We were thrilled to welcome IMBA alumni to join us for this momentous occasion.

Dean Prof. Hongbin Cai opened the event by emphasizing the importance of fostering a strong alumni network. Mr. Tung then took the stage to share his insights on the global shipping industry, discussing his journey in his family business and the strategies they employed to adapt to the ever-evolving landscape. Prof. Chen discussed the aviation industry, highlighting the crucial role of Hong Kong International Airport as a major aviation hub. He addressed the challenges faced by airlines amidst the global pandemic and also noted that air cargo and express services would become more important, with many enhanced facilities at the airport.

The event concluded with a networking session, fostering a sense of pride and belonging among the HKU Business School community. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the speakers and alumni for making this event a resounding success.
