Dr. Charleston Sin, Executive Director of the MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node, will first share his views on the topic of “Contextualize ABCD5I in the Greater Bay Area”, followed by an open discussion among participants moderated by Professor Heiwai Tang, Associate Director of HIEBS.
About the Speaker – Dr. Charleston Sin
As Executive Director of the MIT Hong Kong Innovation Node, Charleston Sin leads the effort to organize, champion, and advocate for innovation in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. As a 25-year veteran of the Information technology and telecommunications industry, he now unites his passion for education with innovation & technology, encouraging disruptive application of new technology in the local community and beyond.
Prior to joining MIT, Sin held executive positions in Research & Development, Product Management, and Sales & Marketing at VMware, Cisco Systems, and Nortel Networks in United States, Canada, Asia Pacific, and China. He worked ten years in China for Cisco Systems Greater China, as General Manager of South China, GM of Product & Architecture, Chief of Staff of Greater China Chairman; and for VMware as GM of Product Management.
His primary interests lie in key technology trends, including Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, Big Data, 5G /IOT, FinTech, and EdTech.
Sin received his PhD in Management Sciences at The University of Waterloo. Currently, he is member of the board of director of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company, and Professor of Practice of the Faculty of Business, The Polytechnic University of HK, and Fellow of HK Institute of Directors (FHKIoD). Sin is active in startup ecosystem and sitting in the board of four startup companies.
