What turns passion into purpose?

Meet Angel Wu, a third-year Business and Law student at HKU Business School. She’s another impressive recipient of the Future Leader Scholarship 2023–2024 award. With a deep interest in human rights and international affairs, Angel spent the summer interning in Iraq and Lebanon.

In Iraq’s Kurdistan region, she supported research on human rights gaps, labour laws, and legal protections for minorities and displaced people. Then, in Lebanon, she worked under the Prime Minister’s office to analyse the situation across refugee camps, monitor the situation in Gaza, and liaise with NGOs and donors.

These experiences profoundly shaped her understanding of the region and realities of working in human rights. The Scholarship was a critical factor on her path towards working for a better and more just world.
