HKU Business School Welcomes Vietnam National Assembly Delegation for Digital Transformation and AI Programme

🇻🇳 Mr. Lê Quang Mạnh, Secretary General of the National Assembly and Chairman of the Office of the National Assembly of Vietnam, Leads a Delegation to Explore Digital Transformation and AI in Hong Kong

On 27 July, Mr. Lê Quang Mạnh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary General of the National Assembly, and Chairman of the Office of the National Assembly of Vietnam, led a delegation to the Opening Ceremony of a Study Programme on Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at The University of Hong Kong.

The programme is organised by The University of Hong Kong, through HKU Business School and the HKU School of Governance and Policy, with advisory support from GenAI Fund. HKU Vietnam is honored to serve as a connecting bridge and support coordination for the programme, facilitating this exchange between Vietnam and Hong Kong.

The delegation includes officials responsible for digital transformation from the Ethnic Council, committees of the National Assembly, and the Office of the National Assembly.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Lê Quang Mạnh noted that the National Assembly of Vietnam is advancing its digital transformation agenda towards a digital parliament. He highlighted the potential of AI to support policy-data analysis, legislative drafting, access to information for National Assembly deputies, and engagement with voters and the public.

Professor Jay Siegel, Vice-President and Pro-Vice-Chancellor of HKU, welcomed the delegation and shared his appreciation for Vietnam’s recent socio-economic development. Madam Lê Đức Hạnh, Consul General of Vietnam in Hong Kong, also highlighted HKU’s role in fostering educational cooperation between Vietnam and China.

Following the opening ceremony, the delegation attended its first session on the development of commercial AI in the public sector, presented by Professor Anthony Yang, Associate Professor of Practice, HKU Business School. The programme will continue with sessions on AI governance, public policy, digital government, responsible AI, data governance, cybersecurity, and digital trust, together with visits to Cyberport, Hong Kong Science Park, and the Digital Policy Office of the HKSAR Government.
