Important Notes:

  1. In view of current travel restrictions, the Graduation Ceremony will be specially arranged to be held concurrently at HKCEC in Hong Kong and the HKU Beijing Centre to facilitate graduands from the Mainland to attend the ceremony in person.
  2. Live streaming will be provided on a password-protected platform for graduands and their family and friends to witness the ceremony online and share the joy.
  3. To align with the University's guideline for this year's Congregation, only graduands are allowed in the event venue.
  4. Graduand who arrives at the venue after his/her programme is presented to the Presiding Officer will not be presented on stage separately and will not be allowed to go onto the stage.

Hong Kong Session – HKCEC

  1. Only graduands are allowed to enter the ceremonial venue (i.e. Grand Hall), guests are invited to watch the livestreaming in Hall 3E or via online platform.
  2. Graduands will be assigned a seat according to their programmes and the alphabetical order of their surname, and will be invited onto the stage in a programme-specific sequence. According to the University's event guideline, seating information will be submitted for record and infection control. Graduands are advised not to swap their seats in order to ensure the smooth running of the conferment procedures.
  3. All participants should wear a face mask at the event.
  4. Food and drinks are not allowed at the event.
  5. Participants attending the HKU Business School Graduation Ceremony 2021 are deemed to have acknowledged and agreed to abide by the House Rules.

Beijing Session – HKU Beijing Centre

  1. Due to limited venue capacity, seats at HKU Beijing Centre will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, according to the time of registration completion. Graduands will receive a confirmation email after the registration period has ended.
  2. Graduands will be assigned a seat according to their programmes, and will be invited onto the stage in a programme-specific sequence. Graduands are advised not to swap their seats in order to ensure the smooth running of the conferment procedures.

Registration & Guest Ticket
  1. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation and in accordance with recommendations on social distancing and group gatherings, the University has decided to hold Congregation on a smaller scale this year, i.e. only graduands will be invited to the Grand Hall of HKCEC/ HKU Beijing Centre and attend the ceremony.
  2. (Hong Kong Session only) Graduands can invite a maximum of two guests to Hall 3E of HKCEC and watch the live broadcast of the ceremony. Guests must complete registration before entering Hall 3E, use the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile application or fill in the record form onsite.
  3. Graduands are required to log in to online registration system to register their own and their guests' (if applicable) attendance. Graduands failing to register by October 13, 2021 (Wednesday) will be regarded as not attending the ceremony.
  4. Due to venue capacity restrictions, guest admission tickets to Hall 3E will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Please note that the number of guest tickets allocated to graduands may be fewer than requested if oversubscription occurs. You will receive a confirmation email with seating arrangements and electronic admission tickets for both graduands and guests in late October.
  5. Graduands may also invite your family and friends to watch the ceremony proceedings via online broadcast. The access link will be shared to all graduands in late October.
  6. Graduands are required to collect academic dress before the event. Graduands who are not in full academic dress will not be presented on stage.

FAQs

Registration:

Graduands who are eligible to attend the Graduation Ceremony will receive an invitation by email. If you have questions on your eligibility to graduate, please contact your respective programme office directly.

Yes. Online registration is required for both graduands and guests to join the ceremony in person. You can apply for your ticket to the Graduation Ceremony in early October upon receiving an invitation email from the Faculty. The registration link to the Graduation Ceremony will be included in your invitation email.

The registration deadline for the 2021 Graduation Ceremony is October 13, 2021. Graduands must indicate their attendance.

Unfortunately, you cannot register for the Graduation Ceremony after the registration deadline. Please contact us at fbegraduation@hku.hk if you have any questions.

Degrees will be conferred on all eligible graduands during the Faculty-based Congregation Sessions, including those who are in absentia. Attendance at the Congregation will not affect graduands' graduation status/eligibility.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer the deferral of Graduation Ceremony attendance.

Admission Tickets:

Graduands will receive an email invitation with a registration link, where they can register for electronic admission tickets for themselves and on behalf of their guests.

Only two guest tickets are available for each graduand.

A maximum of two guest tickets can be requested. Please note that only the graduands will be invited to the Grand Hall of HKCEC and attend the ceremony. Their guests will be invited to Hall 3E of HKCEC and watch the live broadcast of the ceremony.

If there is an excess demand for the guest tickets, the number of guest tickets allocated to graduands may be fewer than requested. You will receive a confirmation email after the registration is closed.

Please note that no guest ticket will be distributed on-site at HKCEC on the event day. Walk-in guests (i.e. guests without tickets) on the ceremony day will only be accommodated if Hall 3E has not reached its maximum capacity. Entry to the ceremony venue is not guaranteed for walk-in guests. All walk-in guests must use the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile application or fill in the record form onsite.

Visa:

Graduands should check the latest entry restrictions and quarantine requirements for traveling to Hong Kong before registration.

If you have registered to attend the Graduation Ceremony, you will receive a confirmation email in October. If you require a copy of the invitation letter in advance to support your visa application, please contact us at fbegraduation@hku.hk.

Please note that the Faculty is unable to provide additional invitation letter to support visa applications for guests. We recommend you and your guests meet all necessary visa requirements well in advance of the ceremony to avoid any inconvenience.

Academic Dress & Certificate:

Graduands can apply online and choose SF Express to request for the gown. You may visit the University's congregation website for updated details of academic loan at Victoria Uniform.

You are required to bring a full set of academic dress and to ensure proper attire is worn together the academic regalia. You may wish to bring safety pins to secure the gown and hood in place. Please wear appropriate footwear for walking up and down the stage steps. Please refer to here for suggested attire.

No academic dress will be available for loan on the event day.

Academic dress is mandatory for graduands attending the Faculty Graduation Ceremony. Graduands who are not in full academic dress will not be presented on stage.
