Speakers Biography

Speaker -Hon. Duncan Chiu

Member, Legislative Council

Duncan has committed to technology and innovation development for nearly 20 years. He is not only a tech entrepreneur but also a veteran investor, as well as an influential advocator and monitor of local technology and innovation policies. He often speaks at forums and conferences to promote start-up culture and helps young entrepreneurs with workshops and mentorship.

Duncan is the President of the Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council (HKITJC) and the Convenor of Innovate for Future, a think tank representing some of the leading technology start-ups in Hong Kong. He is also the Director of Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, the Chairman of HKTDC Information & Communications Technology (ICT) Services Advisory Committee and the Chairman of Information Technology Services Committee of the Hospital Authority.

CEO, FundingReach

William is the founder and CEO of FundingReach. He leads the development of a comprehensive RegTech platform under 3 distinctive engines, i.e. iFinGate, iFinHealth and iFinPulse, which help to improve Financial Inclusion through shortening of turnaround time and reducing of transaction costs for financial institutions in providing financial services.

William has extensive experiences in Banking, prior to founding FundingReach, he had held various senior positions in the Corporate and Commercial Banking sector, including Head of Large and Medium Corporates of Commercial Banking at Citibank, Head of Agri and Energy at Standard Chartered Bank, and Head of Local Corporates at ANZ.

To promote RegTech awareness and adoption, William participates as organizer and speaker in RegTech events for industry associations and Institutions, including Cyberport, Hong Kong Monetary Authority, The Hong Kong Institute of Bankers, Hong Kong Electronics and Industries Association, The Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, Professional Insurance Brokers Association, Hong Kong Securities Association, Hong Kong Securities Professionals Association, Hong Kong Securities and Futures Association, etc.

On education front, together with Cyberport and HKU, with the support of Hong Kong Federation of Industries, William organized FinTech Summer Program to groom the youngsters and pave the way for Hong Kong as one of the global leaders in FinTech. Moreover, William also contributes as industry speaker for FinTech program of HKU, provides machine learning projects to master degree students and internship projects to undergrads.

William holds LLB from University of London and BABS from City University of Hong Kong

Speaker – Mr. Peter YAN

CEO, Cyberport
 

Mr Yan is an industry leader with more than 35 years of experience in the information technology industry.  As the CEO of Cyberport, Mr Yan leads the digital technology flagship focusing on talent cultivation, industry development, and the integration of new and traditional economies.  Prior to joining Cyberport, Mr Yan was the Executive Director and CEO of SUNeVision and had held various senior management positions in large consulting and IT services companies including Accenture, Tradelink and Computer and Technologies.

Mr Yan has been active in public services, serving as a member of the Council of the City University and the Hong Kong Metropolitan University.  He is also a member of the Human Capital Committee of Financial Services Development Council, a member of the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, and various industry or professional organisations in the I&T sector.  He is a life-time fellow of the Hong Kong Computer Society.

Mr Yan holds a BBA Degree from CUHK and was conferred the Honoree of the Year by the CUHK Chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma in 2020. He also received Executive Education from the Harvard Business School.
