Conference Highlights

Jointly hosted by the Institute of Digital Economy and Innovation as well as the Centre for Financial Innovation and Development at HKU Business School, the 7th International Conference on Smart Finance (ICSF) was successfully held online on August 19-20, 2022. The conference recorded more than 12-thousand views from multiple platforms.

This year, the Best Paper Committee comprising of Prof. Jane Feng (Tsinghua University), Prof. Liyan Yang (University of Toronto), Prof. Will Cong (Cornell University), Prof. Zhi Da (University of Notre Dame), Dr. Hailiang Chen (The University of Hong Kong) and Dr. Xitong Li (HEC Paris), upon a rigorous and anonymous selection process, recommended the paper entitled ‘Distrust as Fundamental’ co-authored by Yang YOU (The University of Hong Kong) and Bo TANG (London School of Economics and Political Science) to receive the Best Paper Award. The 7th ICSF also served as a platform for authors of the papers submitted to present their work in the eight parallel paper presentation sessions and to exchange ideas with other participants.

In the conference, keynote speeches delivered by Prof. Bin GU (Boston University), Prof. Zhiguo HE (University of Chicago), Prof. Fan WANG (Sun Yat-sen University), Prof.D. J. WU (Georgia Institute of Technology) and Prof. Wei XIONG (Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen & Princeton University) shared the speakers’ expertise and research in FinTech and Financial Innovation.

The two panel sessions with both academic scholars and industry experts joining elaborated further on issues about Smart Finance. All panelists provided a lot of information and insights on the respective panel discussion topics based on their academic outreach and experience in the industry.
