Building a Secure Digital Civilisation
Prof. Bill Roscoe and Mr. Franklin Wang joined the AI Evaluation Lab (AIEL) and the Institute of Digital Economy and Innovation (IDEI) at HKU Business School for a distinguished research seminar on trustworthy systems and the long-term outlook for a secure digital civilisation.
The session continued AIEL and IDEI’s programme of high-level exchanges bridging academic research, policy, and industry practice. Participants explored how formal methods, resilient architectures, and responsible governance can reinforce public confidence as digital services scale across economies and societies.
Discussions highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration—linking computer science, economics, and organisational leadership—to align innovation incentives with safety and accountability. The seminar also underscored HKU’s role as a regional hub for dialogue on next-generation digital infrastructure.
