Igniting Futures: A Thunderous Start to the HKU Business School Mentorship Programme 2025-26!
On 6th November 2025, Loke Yew Hall buzzed with anticipation and excitement as we celebrated the Inauguration Ceremony of the HKU Business School Mentorship Programme 2025-26. A total of 110 mentor-mentee groups came together, ready to embark on transformational journeys that will shape careers, forge lifelong connections, and unlock limitless potential. We were also thrilled to welcome participants from the Executive Mentorship Programme (EMP), hosted by our Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Finance Programme [BSc(QFin)], adding even more vibrancy to this remarkable gathering.
Professor Hongbin Cai, Dean of HKU Business School, set the tone with an inspiring welcome that resonated throughout the hall. He expressed heartfelt appreciation for the ongoing support provided by mentors and underscored how their guidance can inspire mentees to develop new perspectives, unlock their full potential, and achieve success. Now in its thirteenth year, our Mentorship Programme has nurtured over 750 students — building not just successful professionals, but resilient leaders with vision and purpose. This legacy of excellence exists because of our dedicated mentors who bring passion and commitment to every conversation, every piece of advice, and every moment shared.
The evening reached an emotional peak when two exceptional mentors, Mr. Johnny Chan and Mr. William Du, took the stage to share their mentorship stories. Their powerful testimonials revealed something truly beautiful: how professional relationships blossom into genuine, lasting friendships that transcend the boardroom. William then invited his former mentee, Miss Ann Xiang from the BEcon&Fin programme, to share her own journey under the mentorship of William — a touching reminder that the impact of mentorship ripples far beyond graduation day, shaping lives and careers for years to come.
As the youngest and most dynamic Faculty at the University, HKU Business School continues to break new ground in academic and research excellence. In addition, building bridges between bright young minds and the business world through programmes like our signature Mentorship Programme. We are convinced that these mentorship relationships are the cornerstone of developing the next generation of business leaders—equipping them not just with knowledge, but with the confidence, networks, and real-world insights that textbooks simply cannot provide.
A resounding round of applause to every mentor and mentee who joined us for this spectacular launch! Your enthusiasm and commitment lit up the room and reminded us why this Programme continues to thrive year after year.
The HKU Business School Mentorship Programme 2025-26 is officially underway—and we couldn’t be more excited about the incredible stories that will unfold.
