Registration:

Graduands are required to register for the ceremony via the online registration system. Graduands who fail to register by October 24, 2022 (Monday) will be considered as not attending the ceremony.

Eligible graduands registered for the ceremony will receive a confirmation via email (Hong Kong Session) or WeChat (Beijing and Shenzhen Sessions) by Tuesday, November 8, 2022, including ceremony details and event admission arrangements.

Attire:

Graduands are required to collect academic dress before the event, please visit the HKU Congregation website for suggested attire. Details on loan of academic dress, please contact:

Remarks: Graduands who are not in full academic dress will not be presented on stage.

Certificate:

Collection of certificate is administered by HKU, please visit the HKU Congregation website for more details. Certificates will not be presented during the Congregation Ceremony on November 15, 2022.

*In view of current travel restrictions, the Congregation Ceremony will be specially arranged to be held concurrently at the HKU Beijing Centre and HKU Business School Shenzhen Campus to facilitate graduands from the Mainland to attend the ceremony in person. However, such arrangement will be subject to the latest regulations on travelling and social gathering.

Important Notes:

  1. Graduands will be assigned a seat according to their programmes and the alphabetical order of their surname, and will be invited onto the stage in a programme-specific sequence. Graduands are advised not to swap their seats in order to ensure the smooth running of the conferment procedures.
  2. Graduands are required to join the briefing on conferment arrangements to be held at 2:00pm at the Grand Hall.
  3. Graduands who arrive at the venue after his/her programme is presented to the Presiding Officer will not be allowed to go onto the stage.
  4. Guests are encouraged to arrive earlier for registration. Guests arriving after 2:30pm may not be permitted to enter the Grand Hall, in order to ensure no disruption to the ceremony. Please remember to bring your mobile device or print-out copy to show the confirmation email for onsite registration.
  5. All graduands and guests are required to comply with the preventive measures in response to COVID-19 set by HKCEC before entering the Grand Hall. Persons with "Amber Code" must pre-register for the ceremony to enter the venue, no walk-ins permitted (subject to the Government's latest disease prevention and control measures).
  6. Participants attending the Congregation Ceremony are deemed to have acknowledged and agreed to abide by the House Rules.
  7. The University and the Faculty may make appropriate adjustments to the ceremony arrangements in light of the latest COVID-19 development. Please stay tuned for further updates about the Congregation arrangements.

FAQs

Registration:

Only graduands eligible for graduation can attend the Congregation Ceremony. If you have questions on your graduation eligibility, please contact your respective programme office directly.

Unfortunately, you cannot register for the Congregation Ceremony after the registration deadline. Please contact us at fbegraduation@hku.hk if you have any questions.

Attendance at the Congregation will not affect graduands' graduation status/eligibility.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer the deferral of Congregation Ceremony attendance.

Visa:

Graduands should check the latest entry restrictions and quarantine requirements for traveling to Hong Kong before registration.

If you have registered to attend the Congregation Ceremony (Hong Kong Session), you will receive a confirmation email by November 8, 2022. If you require a copy of the invitation letter in advance to support your visa application, please contact us at fbegraduation@hku.hk.

Please note that the Faculty is unable to provide additional invitation letter to support visa applications for guests. We recommend you and your guests meet all necessary visa requirements well in advance of the ceremony to avoid any inconvenience.

Academic Dress & Certificate:

You are required to bring a full set of academic dress and to ensure proper attire is worn together the academic regalia. You may wish to bring safety pins to secure the gown and hood in place. Please wear appropriate footwear for walking up and down the stage steps. Please refer to here for suggested attire.

No academic dress will be available for loan on the event day.

Adverse Weather Arrangements:

If Tropical Storm Warning Signal No. 8 (or a higher number) or the Rainstorm Black Warning Signal is hoisted or in force at/after 11:30am on November 15, 2022 (Tuesday), the Hong Kong Session will be cancelled, and the concurrent sessions in Beijing and Shenzhen will be cancelled accordingly.

If either of the warnings is lowered or cancelled at/before 11:30am, the three sessions will be held as scheduled.

Graduate Employment Survey (GES)

Graduate Employment Survey (GES) is carried out every year by CEDARS-Careers and Placement to collect information on destinations or employment of the graduating class.

Graduates of Class of 2022 are invited to participate in GES 2022. Those who have completed the entire survey before 30 November 2022 (23:59) can get a free Tote Bag, subject to a first-come-first-served basis while stocks last.
